ok, just got caly's final cage done today and wanted your opinions. i feed her crix, roaches and supers out of her cage now. and i think ill continue that. and she doesnt ever poop in her cage, only in her bath she gets everyday. shes been on aspen since she was like 3 weeks old. and when i got her i continued this since she was used to it. she likes sand too so i am thinking of switching. this is were the debate comes in. i know of impactions. but she only eats greens out of her bowl an rarely drops any. but when she does she never picks them up. so do you think it would be safe to use play sand for her? i am thinking it would be alright seeing as shes already been on another oh so harmful substrate forever. lol. and i dont see how sand would be bad either as she doesnt lick in her sandbox or any of her substrate. and she doesnt eat in cage. so any general opinions are welcome. im thinking im gonna do it but i wanted to see the general opinion of more expert keepers. and she doesnt like tiles. which is why shes still on aspen right now.

Just to mention it again, sand is for adult dragons only and should never be used on juveniles. You can purchase washed and rinsed play sand from many home improvement stores and also the large toy stores. Once you get it, just pour it through a screen. This can be a regular window screen, or if you don't have one, use the screen top on your vivarium. Just be sure to get the larger clumps out.

I have used playsand from home depot. The thing that turned me off of sand is that the dragon ends up living in a litter box. That is how i see it at this point. I now use non adhesive shelf liner on a regular basis

well i would say if you dont do daily cleanin then yes itd be a litter box. but she doesnt even poop in her cage now. she waits to get her bath. the only time she will is if she goes more than a day and a half with no bath. but i try to everyday. or the next morning after she eats breakfast if i miss a day.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
