Some help with uv lighting please!

I know the general advise is to stay away from compact uv bulbs due to them causing all sorts of problems, however is the a dive the same for the Exo-terra solar glow bulb with the uv output (such as these http://www.leeroyslizardlounge.com/onlinestore/cat_129549-ExoTerra-Solar-Glow-Mercury-Vapour-UV-Lamps.html) ?

Just wondered if anyone knew if they were suitable for a vivarium. Thanks.

That is not a CFL. Its an MVB, a bulb that gives out both heat and UV. The solar glo is not a very good brand of MVB though. It doesn't give out enough UV. The best MVBs on the market today are the Powersun and T-rex, but even those have had a few problems down the road. Read this. viewtopic.php?f=34&t=105420
