POSSIBLE UPPER RESPIRATORY AND OTHER PROBLEMS

Hi! It's been a while since I've been on. Stryker was 3 years old on January 27th. Unfortunately, he has passed through several owners/caretakers in our family and though I am concerned about him, I have not been paying the poor boy much attention. My husband feeds and bathes him.

The problem is, during his bath the other day, he pooped (FINALLY after about 3 weeks!!!) and my husband wanted to put him up and I told him that Stryker needed more bath time or he'd dehydrate. So my husband gave him to me to hold while he cleaned out his bath container and Stryker made some weird GURGLING NOISES. I have never heard him make a noise, at all. And his also seemed to HISS once. He was very BLACK BEARDED, but that is not unusual when someone else bathes him and he would not calm down for me and not at all, till after his bath, when he was back in his tank.

There are a few other things I should mention. His UVB Bulb was due to be changed in September and I was just able to afford a new one in February. So I know he wasn't getting the right rays.

Secondly, having browsed the forums tonight, I saw an article on vitamins and I have a suspicion that my husband has not been giving him his Calcium and Reptovite. Or at least not regularly.

Stryker does not eat much. Plain "salad" of just greens every day and Superworms during the week maybe 2 or 3 times. He usually doesn't eat them right away. He doesn't seem to eat crickets at all, so we stopped buying them. He never seemed interested in carrots or squash or applesauce.

His pattern on his back seems very black in design to me, too, but I have seen that look like that many other times.

I don't want to loose Stryker, what should I do? :banghead:

Hi there....it sounds like Stryker has a good , loving home. :) Watch his breathing now to see that he doesn't regularly cough, gasp, wheeze, hiccup, etc. Sometimes they drink too fast or aspirate water briefly but cough it back up with no ill effects. And a few months without UVB can cause some problems, but an adult dragon can get away with it far better than a growing baby or juvie....same goes for supplementation. He will probably [ hopefully ] be fine.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
