I debated whether this belonged in the introduction's forum or this one but because we lost these two more than 4 years ago I decided it should probably be here as they aren't new beardies, just new to you all as I've never really shared them with you. These first two, Miss O (for orange) and Miss Y (for yellow) were best friends. I didn't realize until almost 2 or so years after we lost them that this is very unusual. You would have had to see them together to understand that they were talking to each other, usually a lot and every day.

I will share some pics of them with you
littlegirls3.jpg

Bill found Miss O hiding in this box inside of our living room and had to take a picture of her. Since the camera we were using at that time was a film camera, he took her and the box outside on our steps, which is probably why she looks a little annoyed.

Here's Miss Y and her yellow/black chin

Here they are enjoying Bill's Lamborghini

Miss O liked to hide this way a lot, with her loving look. She knew we loved her and that was very important to her.

Here's a pic of her chin, this pic looks like we took it at night, but we didn't
enjoyingthesun.jpg

We submitted this pic for the bd.org calendar some years ago. This is one we took that I never noticed until we sent this in for the calendar that they were talking to each other. In this one, Miss Y was saying "I don't feel good" and Miss O was saying "I know, and I'm sorry" Miss O was like that, she had to comfort. She needed someone to love her and to be loved, and comfort when she knew we needed it.

I had better submit this before I delete what I've done, again.

I look on Craigs list every soo often in the pet section and rarely see any reptiles. I found a male, not yet sure of his age. It seems to have a similar coloring to Goldie. Bill doesn't really want a male because both of us don't want a Gina "Oops" moment that results in our breeding babies. They are very cute but we don't have the time or the $ to deal with raising them, also we don't really have the space to put them. Anyway, depending on the personality of the dragon, I would be willing but Bill is concerned with having to take the dragons out separately. He has a lot to do as it is with 4 acres of yard work (lots of tumble weeds, they keep coming back no matter what we do) and house stuff. This dragon is local. With our schedule and there's it's hard to see when we could get together to see the dragon. If it's God's will for us to get this male, He will work it out.

Keep us all posted, it would be nice to have a male, I know it's more difficult without side time, don't want to help a woops, for sure, but at least there won't be any egg laying. I love my boys & have alot of fun with them. So let me know!

I will keep you posted. The only other one I saw was in Tucson, AZ from some one who was 'rehoming' one month old babies. We don't want to get into babies and I don't think we can afford to feed baby beardies.

Yes, I know what you mean, Lori, beardie babies are very expensive to feed unless you raise your bugs like Barbara does, then that's another story!

Good luck with finding just the right beardie. None can replace Goldie, ever, but it's still good that your considering getting another one to love.

There was another one in Safford, AZ but it was 10.5 inches and the person said crickets bound him up, I found that one on the for free forum. It makes me wonder if this person is feeding it crickets that are too large for it.

We can't get to see him until tomorrow, we have a repair person coming sometime between 8am and noon today so hopefully we will be able to get with the lady tomorrow am. Today was better for her but not for us.

Thank you, Sandy. The more beardies we loose the harder it gets, especially to believe you will have them for years and years.

Deb, we saw the male this am before work. We both noticed he likes to be held. He didn't seem to notice Rosie but it's possible he will when he gets used to our home. Part way through my work day a thought ran through my mind that made me think of one reason we shouldn't get a male. There are other reasons for not this male but the one reason for not a male is if Rosie were to be in her tank with another male outside in the sun she will feel like we are punishing her, even tho we are just protecting her from becoming a mommy at her old age of 4 (old age for breeding). I had the thought that no matter what we said she would be depressed and maybe think we don't love her anymore. If we are to have another beardie, God will provide the right one at the right time. Bill also thinks that this beardie may not be as healthy as they say he is. For one thing they feed him a lot more kale than they should, I believe, from what she said. Also they have a reptiglo 10 tube that is on the top of the tank and goes through the screen. I do know that tube doesn't help their calcium absorption at all.

I agree about the Reptiglo, once they're under it I think it causes alot of issues later on. I agree with you both, I think you'll just know when the right beardie comes along, just like I knew when I spotted Gabriel at the petshop that he was coming home with me. So good luck!

Lori-again I am so sorry for your loss! You and Bill amaze me, you are such amazing people. If I had the money (even if I had to spend bill money to do it) I would fly to AZ to hug you both and kiss Miss Rosie Zoom Zoom!

After being an emotional wreck I've decided I am going to start a garden this weekend. I get paid Friday and I'm going to Home Depot on my way home from work. I too want a memorial garden. I'll plant a beautiful arrangement front and center for each and every beardie who has crossed over to the rainbow bridge before I became a part of this family (Mrs. Y, Mrs. O, Redrock, Sweetie, all the others..I will be sure to compile the most complete list I can...feel free to send me a message or email if any of you have a special one who's crossed) and I'll plant individual flowers for those who have crossed since I came here that I fell soo in love with. (Ex. Leo, Goldie, Yoshi) I cry so hard when I hear of losing a baby. I always tell my mom..."mine and Ponchos friend _____ passed away today" she knows all about all of our regular babies. When Nordica lost Leo I sobbed until I got sick and she just held me while I held Poncho.

Thanks. If you could come it would be good as we like hugs. It does help to have a beardie to snuggle especially during times like this.

Hi Michele, there will be a plant for JoJo, too. I'm planting for all our lost babies, as it's a complete memorial garden. There will be plants for Roger, too, as I know he's at Rainbow Bridge, taking care of everybeardie. It's over a year, now, incredible that the time has gone so fast.
Awwwww, thanks! and ((((((((big hugs))))))))))) to you! We both know the pain of losing a beardie AND a husband in a short amount of time (((more hugs)))

Thanks to you all. I'm sorry I didn't name you all but you are all in my heart. I do realize that only those who love beardies and have lost them understand how much it hurts. God made beardies soo special and loving they make great pets. It's just sad that some people either don't know how to take care of them or don't care because they are all soo precious and loving. I have a hole in my heart for all those that have been lost that I've known about here. Bill always referred to Goldie as his service animal. She helped him when his blood sugar dropped and he wasn't thinking straight. Also, he reminded me of a time when he was driving with Miss O and almost got into an accident but she warned him ahead time, he might not be here right now if it wasn't for her. That's another reason I can't see us without beardies in our lives.
Well said Lori! That is amazing how both Miss O and Goldie probably saved Bill's life  :D

Wow, you read all those pages? So you saw our first two, best friends they were. When Miss Y died, Miss O was soo lost, in fact the vet that saw her just under 2 months later, the first thing he said was "she's depressed". That was a day before she died. You probably also saw Redrock. We sure do miss them all. Now we have another one to miss.

When are you coming to Tucson? Maybe things will work out that we will be able to be in Tucson (we go there shopping as often as we can it's only about 100 miles away and the prices of stuff we usually purchase is not only healthier but cheaper also) when you are.

Thanks Barbara, We will miss her. She lost about 40 grams about one year ago and never really gained it back. That makes me think, now, that she had the start of kidney failure then. That's the only evidence we saw and there can be any sort of reasons that they loose weight. We even took her to the vet in June of 2011 but the reptile expert couldn't see any reason for her to loose her appetite and gave us the carnivore care to give her that never really worked long term. Hind sight is great, unfortunately we didn't have it when we needed it. Goldie gave Bill a gift Saturday am. She ate 2 supers after refusing one. This was a few hours before she left us.

Rosie has been bonding with us more since Saturday. She has been more expressive since. Wednesday am I talked with her about the male we took her with us to see. I told her then we wanted her input to see if she would get along with him. It was a him and for several- reasons we decided no on him. First, we would have to take them outside separately (don't want a Gina oops moment) and because of how Rosie attacked Goldie a few times last year and the year before, she would feel that we were punishing her by making her stay in her tank while the other one was out and I think nothing we said or did would change that, she wouldn't take that well and we have to think of our daughter, Rosie first before any other male beardie we might get. Second, Bill can't be taking beardies out separately, it would take too much time and he can't do that. The third reason is she feeds him Kale, not all the time, but she gets one greens and when he eats it all up she will go to another one. I tried to tell her what problems Kale can cause and about the problems the reptiglo 10 tube causes beardies so we both think he's not as healthy as he seems because of both of those issues. He was very cute and loved shoulder time. He didn't seem to notice Rosie and she didn't seem to know he was there, either. I know that would change if both were out at the same time after he'd bonded with us more. It didn't seem to be worth it with all those issues.
