Is it safe or not to use wood and rocks from outside

So today i went to the river and got some huge rocks and some drift wood. My main question is, will it be safe to put in Sunny's cage i am building for her in the next 6 months? I am going to soak them in bleach water for two or three days the rocks and the wood then i thought i would soak them in clean water and change it everyday for a week then dry them out and use them in her cage a couple right now and maybe a big rock and the rest will go in her new viv. So again i got them from the river i think its the white river in washington and i got the rocks there as well. Please let me know i dont want to waist the bleach if its not safe to use the wood.

You can just bake the stones and wood in the oven, no bleach required. Length of time depends on how big the items are, but I'm thinking 300*F for an hour would kill any microscopic critters that might be hiding in there

i heard that rocks can explode could i boil those?
