I need to stop going to the pet store.

Went into the pet store today to get Charlie a new basking log only to find they are selling 2 3 inch beardies, housed with 2 leopard geckos. No UVB lighting and poo everywhere. And in the next tank they had an almost certainly dead leopard gecko lodged between a rock and the glass. I told the employee who said that he was just sleeping and banged on the glass while the gecko didn't even move and wasn't breathing.

For this very reason I never step foot in Petco.

I was at the pet store awhile ago and there was a leopard gecko that was dead, head underwater and I'm assuming he drowned in his water bowl. I told the worker about it and she seemed concerned but it was still there 30 minutes later so she obviously had more important things to do.

Pet stores should stick to selling supplies and leave the live animals to responsible breeders.

I know exactly what you mean! I posted something similar about them. They didn't give my cousin the correct info she needed when she bought her 3 inch baby beardie. Luckily I helped her out.

He (or she, I still can't tell) may have been $25 more than the beardies at Petco, but I'm much happier that I got him from a breeder-owned store that only deals with reptiles and invertebrates.

I would report the petstore. They might clean up there act after being inspected. Not all Petco are the same and you can report them to headquarters. I worked at one that was great on the care of their animals. Petco does care and will check into it trust me. When I worked for them as a groomer they shut down a store due to bad managment of animals. They reopened when new manger got there. This was up in Mayland area afew years back. Petco is much better tham Petsmart when it comes to caring and listening to customers. I know as I have worked at both. Left PS after 5 mothns stayed at petco for 2 years till I got pregnant.
