How to trim an extremely curly nail?

Little Dude has one nail that curled twice, the rest of his nails are great. I was too scared to ever try and trim it since it's so weird, I don't know where to start the trimming. I always thought to just leave it alone since it was already so bad when I noticed it.

Should I continue to leave it alone? He does not seem to be bothered by it.

Yes but a little bit at a time , I never take more than 2-3mm off the end of their nails at a time.

I gave it a shot and ended up trimming the second curl down to just one curl.
