So if youve read my previous threads you can see that my dragon has had some illness the last month and a half. He has been at the vets 6-7 times since, latest visit yesterday.

Here they unfortunately had to amputate his prolapsed hemipenis after a failed attempt at stitching it back in place (by stitching the side of his cloaca partially).

He has had issues defecating the entire time. He had an obstruction with sand in the beginning but they removed some of it and it wasn't as bad as they thought. This was weeks ago.

The only feces that has come out has been at 2 or 3 of these vet visits.

He has been eating a lot again lately, last two weeks maybe more, both greens and bugs, so I asked the vet to see if he was obstructed again cause he has NOT pooped.

She tells me there was nothing in there??

There is NO way i have missed a poop anywhere. He is in quarantine set up for the time being and the bedding is white diaper sheets. I monitored his baths 100%. There is no way I have missed it.

I am also 100% sure of him eating.

What is going on here??

How did the vet check for poo ? Hopefully not an enema. After surgery some humans + animals may not defecate for a while longer than usual. Just be patient, offer things like baby food prunes or sweet potato, sliced cucumber, sugar free applesauce and a bit of raw honey. Are the stitches out now ? Just be patient and he will eventually poo if you use the natural laxatives that I listed. Use any or all of those, add a bit of water to it as well. if he drinks from a syringe that will be helpful as well.

Thank you! Im not sure exactly what an enema entails but they did use a cottonswab to coax out some feces one time.
Stitches from cloaca are out, been out for a week or so. But he had surgery to remove hemipenis yesterday. Ive seen him drink quite a lot of water on his own.

O.K, just be patient and he'll go eventually. Don't let them do an enema, they shoot water or solution up their cloaca in to the digestive tract to try to flush/force fecal matter out but when they do this it can cause a rupture or flood them too far up and end in death. Beardies can go a long time without pooing so just let him heal and get back on his own. If he had any pain meds. it can also add to the constipation.

Oh wow. If he had an enema that went wrong would it show fast? I cant get a reply from a vet today as its already late evening. But i dont THINK they made one. Thank you. He has had pain killers and antibiotics over several rounds

It probably would show fast and having an enema CAN end badly but does not always.
Ok. Gotcha. I will keep it in mind for next time(s). Can't have any of that, my beardie is well over 15 years old so i can't imagine that would be worth the risks at all...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
