Do I need to be worried?

Hey everyone. For those who know me know I went through quite a fiasco with Puff and now I am an over protective mom when it comes to Blaze.

Anyway, Blaze is a few years old, but I have no idea exactly how old. I am worried because she rarely eats any feeders other than worms. I have dubia roaches and she will eat maybe 3 a week. She will eat all her salad on most days and all her worms. I feed her butterworms and wax worms in her salad and I give her about 5 a day and she eats them (she LOVES her worms). I put water in her salad and I bath her once a week. Her salad consists of butternut squash or acorn squash and some fruit every now and again. She doesnt like crickets she will just watch them run around and superworms she will eat a little, but I dont like feeding hardshelled worms to her. She is incredibly lazy she will not tun after her food. I have to hurt the roach mildly so it moves slower for her. Is it okay that she doesnt eat many feeders?

She used to poop in her bath everytime which would be like once or twice a week and now it is more like once a mth or more and I still bath her the same as before. So I am wondering if this is because of her not eating as much protein?

I will be taking her to the vet for a full checkup including blood work as soon as I have saved $300 to go. I am just wanting to see if these things sound like a major issue or if this is her just getting older. I would guess she is around 5-6 yrs old, but that is a wild guess.

Thanks for your support :)

I do know that waxworms are like candy for dragons, and to some like crack. They are just irresistible to them (not all of them but usually). So that being said maybe he is spoiled or addicted. I've heard of that happening before.

hmmm that is interesting. I dont feed the wax worms on a regualr basis maybe once every months along with butterworms. She she does get butterworms every day in her salad.

Anybody have anymore suggestions for me? on how to get her to eat more protein and if her pooping is a result of eating less protein.

Thanks.

Hi Ashley!

It is normal for her not to eat as many live feeders now as she did when younger. She should be only getting about 20% of her food intake as feeders and 80% vegetation. So it's perfectly fine the way she is eating...but I didn't notice that you mentioned any dark green leafy veggies in her salads...beardies need 2 to 3 different leafy veggies each day this helps with shedding, pooping, and overall health.

My oldest female (Miss Piggy 7+) doesn't poop but every 3 weeks when she's not eating her greens, but when she does eat her greens well she poops about every 3 to 4 days.

It's fine to give the wax worms on occassion just not to many at a time not every day of the week either. I might give them to mine every once in awhile too. But only about 3 to 5 worms once no more than twice a week.

Thanks so much for replying. I just recently stopped feeding her dark greens because it went bad so fast and didnt see much of an issue, but i will start feeding her the greens again. I was using Endive so i will switch it up with more variety. I will use wax worms more of a treat from here on out.... is it okay that i give her butterworms every day about 3-5 a day or should those be a treat as well ?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
