diy hides and decor.

hello everyone im looking for some advice. i want to make custom hides and decor, but i do not like styrofoam. is a homemade clay (made from water, salt, and some water) ok to use. it bakes in the oven and can even be spray painted with kyrlon water resistant paint. is this something that would work?

i think Styrofoam or that pink insulating foam would be easier

I don't think anybody has tried it, doesn't sound expensive so it's worth a shot

I'm sure styrofoam would be easier I just can't stand the sound of it. Thats why I was wondering about the clay.

Anything you build will take time....clay might be okay..can't see why not. Styrofoam is really so much easier. Cut it, shape it, glue it, grout it, paint it, seal it and your done. Styrofoam is really messy when shaping(pita) so do it where clean up is easy. Painting is the fun part, but remember the sealer will darken your paint a little so bare that in mind, go lighter and you will be fine. Start to finish(2-3hrs per nite)about a week.
