I have been throwing around the idea of building a stackable enclosure setup. I am not very handy at this stuff. So I need some advice. I have drawn up a plan, that was originally only supposed to be one cage with a cabinet underneath. But since I have acquired another beardie, i am going to have to modify the original plan. I am going to have two enclosures, stackable of course. That can be used stacked together or used separately. I have decided to use the following measurements per enclosure. 32inches tall x 28inches wide x 54 inches long. And then I would like to have a cabinet underneath of the same dimensions.
I think I can manage the building of the enclosure with out too many issues. I am worried about the following: Lighting. I want to have 2 UVB bulbs per enclosure; one at the front and one at the back and then in between the UVB bulbs, I was planning on using 4-6 regular 100/75/50 watt bulbs for heat/regular lighting. I wanted to know if there was a system you could buy, or if anyone can help me figure out how to wire PC fans and the lights together to control the heat with a thermostat.
Basically, what I thought up, is similar to a reptistat or thermostat. But having it tied to the heating lights and the fans. Basically, when it got too hot, it would kick the fans on and certain lights off. Anyone ever tried this before?
The other thing I have a question about involves the tile. I want to use slate tile. Is it best to put something down on the wood before i lay the tile? And should I seal the tile? What products can I use that are safe? I have decided to use oak veneered plywood because I can get it in any thickness and have it veneered only on one side or both. What stains are safe to use?
I also will have questions about backgrounds. I want to build my own, but wanted to put fake plants in. Would it be wise to put them in permanently or should i make them removable?
God, I feel like such a noob! lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
