Black colouring

Hi, I’ve seen so many reasons for a beadie to turn black, mine has got black scales pretty much all over and also a black beard. He has been super active and restless. He had been head bobbing too. Is this a sign of wanting to mate or could it be something else?

Can he see his reflection?

Post some pics of him. If he's bobbing + has a b.beard he's probably displaying mating behavior but like Karrie said he may have seen his reflection and would act that way if he thought he saw another male , that being his own reflection.

He has also been glass surfing and head butting the glass wanting to come out I’ve been giving him time out of his enclosure to run around too

I don’t believe so he has enough light in there to have no reflection

How big is your tank? Temps in the tank? What are they how are you getting them? Too hot will cause black bearding---- uvb is it a coil?

It’s 4ft, he has plenty of room. The temp is Varys between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius through 2 uv lights and a heat lamp

Please get your UVB into a fixture w/ a reflector-- hes not getting enough UVB - the reflector will intensify the rays --- I would get it over the right of the tank and off the wall so its directly over him w/ a distance of 12-15 inches -- Arcadia Pro T5 UVB Kit - Desert 12%
the basking lights look like they are giving off a yellowish hue -- you want a solid bright white basking bulb and please get 2 digital probe thermometers if you dont have them -- you want actual surface basking temps -- something like this but you must watch the temp --- Arcadia Halogen Basking Spot

25-30 C is not warm enough for surface basking temps- you want it 35-38 for surface basking temps-
27 for cool side of the tank
