Now while I do have Swordtail at the moment and I love him dearly, Swordtail is not the only beardie I've had..
Meet Hawthorn
I got Hawthorn on September 25th and she passed on January 23rd
One day I was talking to my mom and she mentioned me possibly getting my own pet and that she was thinking that a bearded dragon would be cool. I agreed and about a few weeks later we went to petsmart to just take a look at the bearded dragons.
When we looked in the enclosure all of the beardies were just in the back, chilling and getting warmth from the light....except for one: Hawthorn.
While all of the other bearded dragons really didn't care about us, Hawthorn was putting her lil hands on the glass and was so curious about us
And while we were originally not going to get a bearded dragon that day, we just had to get her.
We got a tank setup and some bearded dragon food. Hawthorn did not like the bearded dragon food and ended up just sleeping in it.
Hawthorn was just the cutest thing, she loved my blankets and would regularly kind of burrow into them and get all cozy. She also liked to watch TV oddly enough.
Her favorite food was celery leaves, she went crazy for them. But she didn't like the stems, like, at all.
But then fast forward to September 24th, she is suddenly very lethargic but it was around the end of the day so I thought she was just a lil bit worn out and I got her to bed early.
The next day she was still lethargic so me and my mom tried looking up solutions on the internet (There are unfortunately no vets that accept beardies in our area) and one source said they may be dehydrated so I put her into a shallow bath, it didn't help.
So me and my mom decide to head to the store to get a spray bottle and some syringes, hoping to either spray her with water or get her to drink it but when we came back she had already passed.
We found small black bugs in her water dish that were not there before. We think they were mites but we don't know how they could have possibly gotten in her enclosure.
I remember she liked to try and eat my finger, one of the first things she did when we got her was try and eat my finger and one of the last things she did was try and eat my finger.
R.I.P Hawthorn, you were and still are very missed
