I had a few questions for ya.
Firstly, our male beardie of 1 year, Ziggs, passed yesterday :*-(
We brought him to a vet because we thought he had parasites and because they worked with reptiles. She did find coccidia and pin worms in his fecal sample so she gave us ponazunil & fenbemdazole to clean that out. We think he got them from crickets. She also gave us baytril (.02ml) for his mucus buildup. She gave us powder she called omnivore diet. Its supposedly a cricket type smoothie for them. We got that because our bearide stopped eating.
Anyway, we think he died because mucus buildup not from worms. Then she gave us povidine iodine because she thought there was fungus starting to grow on his beard. Do all these things sound accurate? We DEFINETELY don't want to make this mistake again! WAY TOOO SAD :*-(
Is there a way to treat the crickets we order online for all parasites or should we occasionally treat our beardies for parasites to make sure they stay healthy like you a person gives a dog heart worm medicine every so many months. Thankfully, Our Ziggs and female, Athena, mated and they eggs have been in an incubator so we will have one of his babies to keep :-D
So what do you think about:
1) ponazunil & fenbemdazole
2) baytril
3) omnivore powder diet (its mixed with water)
4) povidine
Thank you SOOO much for your time,
Liz
