My boy is only around a year and a half old, I got him from a neglectful previous owner, I have tried my best to help him so far but I was wondering if there's any ways at home that I can further nurse him back into proper health, everything going on fits the criteria of metabolic bone disease (MBD) I can't afford a veterinary visit at the moment, I'm asking if anybody has something that can help him, he's not as active as he should be, he does move and he does bask occasionally, whenever he attempts to walk, he can't pick himself up to do so he kind of just slides around, I have been feeding him calcium powder on his food, and I also put some in his baths, I'm really desperate for advice here, please.

Please go over the UVB your using NO coils please ---- surface basking temps and how your getting them-- digital probe thermometers are the most accurate --- NO colored bulbs NO off white or yellowish or Daytime basking bulbs- surface basking temps need to be 95-100 taken w/ the probe thermometer -- please post a pic of the tank and lighting

Hello,

As Karrie suggested, please review your UVB & temperatures, as well as the supplementation. It makes it difficult when you take one in from a previous home that neglected him. So sorry about that.
I would highly recommend getting him started on a good liquid calcium, to help him out if he has developed metabolic bone disease.
Do you have pictures of him we could see, along with your tank setup?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
