My bearded dragon Zeus has just past his impaction like 30 mins ago . But now he seems a little lethargic and he wont eat should, i give him some time 2 recover or should i be concern ...the first thing he did when i put him back in his tank was go to the water dish and layed in it.
ok but i don't want 2 feed him if he maybe still impacted then because i read that its not good 4 them, and if he don't eat hes not gonna poop. and i have a 75 watt basking lamp temp gets up to 110 on the highest point and about 90 at the lowest basking point. cool side goes done to at least 70 with a uvb bulb. i use Repti-carpet as my substrate. inside a 15 gallon i downsized 4 his sake, hes 3 month old 6-7 inches long. ill try an post a pic
i just got him to poop again under a warm bath , he didn't poop as much as the first time it was just a little baby poo. should i feed him now , or should i keep doing what im doing and try to get him 2 poop again
ok i feed him some wax worms yesterday he finally ate like 3 of them ... so i just got finished soaking him in a warm bath to get him 2 poop again and he did but i saw that the last waxworm attached 2 his poop he ate wasn't fully digested but still came out..so im wondering if this means theres nothing else in there and hes past his impaction?
Gauge thermometers really have no way of measuring the basking SURFACE, they can only measure the air around the gauge.
You need to either get a temp gun, or a digital thermometer with a probe. Once you get one, you place the probe on the basking SURFACE and see what it reads.
It sounds like your basking spot isn't hot enough, which is why you really need to find out what it is to make the adjustments. Temperature is not something you want to guess at with beardies; since those gauges can be up to 20 degrees off, you basically are guess with them.
yea i know but his basking temp is fine I am sure of it because when he gets to hot he opens his mouth but ill check anyways to be sure. oh and another thing do u think he will get full use out of his back legs again,, he can still walk on them but i can tell they are not as strong as they were before the impaction
ok ill just keep giving him squash and wax worms for now ...cuz i dont thinks he will be able to catch any dusted crickets.. and thnx for all your information ill keep u posted on his progress.
