Zen habitat modification

Thor loves looking out the window, and i felt like he was bored in his enclosure. So I bought a plexiglass panel, cut it down, and put it in the back of his house. He seems to love it.

I do let him out a lot, but if he wants to look out a window, I have to hold him and monitor the whole time because all my cats will jump up on the window mounted bed and knock the whole thing off. They love him so much and love sitting by him. My black cat actually head butts him.

But anyway....I like it.

I added a window into Sinatra's Zen habitat also. I didn't do the whole back though, I framed it in.

Great that it works out :) I'd imagine with 1 dragon it's often possible, with 3 might not always.
I agree, it's great enrichment, and also the extra warmth when the sun shines in is a nice extra.
Taco today observed an excavator machine at a construction site for some time :) From the top of his climbing wall, eyeing down through the window :D

I plan on getting another lizard eventually, I just don't know what kind. He won't be as fortunate as Thor.

That's really beautiful! Is that just like a frame from a hobby shop or something?
The frame is just thin baseboard from Lowes. I cut the hole in the back with a jigsaw and cut the acrylic to fit a little snug and worked it in, then cut 45's into the baseboard to make the frame. It's all glued so no nails or screws to see. Honestly getting the cuts just right so there wasn't visible gaps was kind of tedious. I think it might be easier to buy pre-made frames.
It's framed on the outside with matching baseboard so he can't push the acrylic out from the inside. Lining the two frames up so there isn't a visible edge is a pain also lol 😆.

I can only imagine the amount of work you put into it, but it looks professionally made. Fantastic job.

I just used ¼" plexiglass because as you can see, I do use suction cups on it, so I needed it to be sturdy.

Thank you 😊
I kicked around replacing the entire back, but when the habitat arrived shipping had been rough on it and one of the corner connectors was damaged. I was worried if I took it apart that I might break it beyond repairing, so I decided to go that route.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
