I feel like just as I am getting to know how to handle my bearded dragon he does something different.
Three days ago he seemed to go into brumation. We have left him alone and he seems to be awake on and off. But now his skin is starting to look weird. It seems maybe a bit dehydrated along with patchy white pieces. Do they often shed while in brumation? Or do they sleep before shedding? I just don't want him to get dehydrated and above all I don't want him to die. I would feel awful if I found out I was sitting here this whole time doing nothing. Any ideas?
The hot side of his tank is 104 the cool side is 79. He is on the cool side. I have the correct UVB - reptisun 5.0 and red heat lamp.
Jennifer, I think he is shedding, which can lead to a grouchy dragon. Just give him a bath daily until the shed is complete. Sheds can put a dragon off feeding, and make them just irritable.
Hope this helps out !
Janie.
Take him out and give him a nice bath. Just make sure if he's in like a coma that you keep his head above water but the water level needs be at least to his vents. Even when they brumate, you still need to give them a bath
(sorry zebraflavencs, you're post wasn't there yet when I started mine)
