Wow, what a turn around for the little one with no appetite ! He looks alert + healthy, I know you must be thrilled ! Just one little suggestion , cut the amount down to about 20, you don't want him to grow TOO fast. Then offer greens too [ or maybe you do and I forgot ] like kale , collards, turnip + mustard greens, escarole, endive, dandelion and a little shredded squash once in a while.
Oh, and post a pic of his full body from above, I'm thinking he looks possibly like a Dunner morph.
I went back through the thread. On page 7 there is a picture with his tail visible.
he ISSSS a Dunner!!!!

So funny because I think my hubby under feeds him! 😂 But we will definitely keep it 20. He's been through enough don't want him to grow too fast and stress him out. I do put kale in his bowl..he never goes for it and sometimes i try to hand feed it and all he does is lick it. Now that he has an appetite I will try all the other greens.
Here's a picture of his full back. We were told he was an "inferno" dragon. View attachment 92712
HAHAHA you posted faster than I could revisit older post.
I dunno about Inferno but he is 100% a Dunner (my absolute favorite morph)

Okay please tell me what does that mean?! 😂
The Dunner gene was developed by Kevin Dunn, a long time breeder. (Dragons den herpetculture is his site and morphmarket page. He has some of the most amazing dragon out there)
Dunner is a scale mutation. If you look at the scales on his belly they will be haphazard instead of uniform. So will the spikes under his chin. They also have random (mostly) enlarged scales on their backs. And in general are more spikey and rangey looking. It also breaks up the pattern on the tail. Dunners don't have the Chevron strips on the tail like all others do. It will be a broken pattern or a stripe like your guy has or a broken stripe.
They for me are hands down, far and away the most gorgeous of all the beardies!!!!!

This is Sweet Pea and Sinatra. Sweet has sadly passed. She was a rescue and in bad shape when she came to me. Zoom in on her neck shield and look at her spikes. She was a fairly high expression Dunner.
Sinatra is a Dunner also but his expression isn't as strong as in Sweet Pea.
Also Dunner is a dominant trait so it only takes 1 parent to pass it on.

I just realized that both pictures were taken the day I got them before I even pulled out of the parking spot 🙂

Hello,

I am glad to hear he is starting to do a lot better now!
I did misunderstand the remark about euthanizing! I am happy that it wasn't the vet that suggested it,
but bad enough the pet store mentioned it.
Too often it is too quickly suggested before giving the dragon a chance at life!
It looks like he is improving nicely for you!

Yeah, he's a Dunner. That morph is named after long time, well known breeder Kevin Dunne from Dragon's Den herpetoculture who was the first to have these pop up in his breeding dragons. The term " inferno" is just someones attempt to slap a cool sounding name for a color of a line of beardies but some people will call them anything . The fact that the seller did not recognize this very easy to identify morph on Hookfang really show that they don't know beardies at all.

It's breeders that do that, that causes alot of the confusion about the difference between color and morph. I wish we had a reliable registration system like dogs 🐕 or cats 🐈 that could settle on guidlines for naming the different attributes of beardies and reptiles in general.
I remember how confused and overwhelmed I was when I first started learning about them. It would alleviate some of that.

Hello,

Ah, I figured eventually AHBD would be responding to the Dunner morph questions!
There are so many morphs, etc, that it's hard to keep track of them all.

Hey guys... Hookfang has been doing great. But today he threw up...or at least it looks like he did.
We cut down on the crickets and give him 10-12 per feeding x2 a day. And I've been making him a salad of arugula and butternut squash. As y'all know he never eats his salad. But I've been holding a piece of arugula up to his mouth and he'll kick it sometimes. Anyways when I got home from work hubby had already feed him and when I came to say hi to him Hookfang had two poops and what looked like undigested crickets and arugula.
He's also looking a bit pale but we think he's getting ready to shed since he's been gaining weight.
Any insight? I'm worried... again 😟

It might just be a fluke, see how she does tomorrow. If you use vitamin /calcium supplement do so very sparingly. Is she on anything else, I've forgotten ?
