Won’t drink

So I’ve had my bearded dragon for about three weeks now. He’s probably about two months or so old and he’s eating very well but I can’t get him to drink water. I’m worried that he’ll get dehydrated. After doing a little bit of research, I seen some suggestions to try to use a syringe. Drop it slowly and see if he will drink any water that way I’ve tried putting water on my finger, rubbing it on his head a little bit on his nose area to see if he’ll lick the water from his face, I’ve tried filling up a little container with only a small bit of water and putting him in there, seeing if he’ll drink it and he still wouldn’t. I also must his greens but he don’t really eat them unless I hand feed him those lol….any tips or tricks? I feel like I’m out of ideas . And just a little worried.

An eyedropper is better than a syringe, you can control the amount dispensed better. Use plastic not glass, they can bite hard enough to break the glass.

You can try adding a little none citrus fruit juice or punch to give it flavor. If you use the juice or punch be sure to use a wet cloth to wipe away any that runs down their chin. No need to take a chance on causing bacteria or fungus to start in their scales.
Another trick is to place your hand so that your fingers are above his head and your thumb is below his chin in the shape of a C. Use your thumb to gently pull the bottom lip open, it doesn't take much effort this way. Then use the eyedropper to squirt just a little bit outside his gums and teeth.
Be EXTREMELY care though, do not force the water in. Go slow at his pace. If you go to fast or force it, it could get in his lungs and aspirate him and that can be really dangerous for him.

He’s still kind of scared so I haven’t been able to hold him yet. I’ve only been able to hand feed and give him some pets on the head. I got him not long ago and I didn’t want to force my hand and stress him out. I’ve been able to scoot him in another container but that’s about it…He’s slowly getting use to me but not to the holding stage yet. I’ll try the eye dropper.

If you can get appropriate sized hornworms they are great for hydration. That's what I had to do with Zsa Zsa since I got her in April.

I haven’t been able to find small hornworms. The only ones that I’ve found are big and he’s only probably a couple months old

You can order online also, just make sure to select the small sized ones.

What website? I’ve been looking for one to buy debias also. Not sure what’s a good site to buy bugs
@KarrieRee or @hdochow are probably the best to ask. I think they have several places between them.

Your beardie is SO pretty. The neck looks ok, if it was dehydration the skin on the sides would wrinkly. Also you would be able to gently pinch the skin into a tent shape, if it holds its shape that is a sign of dehydration. If the skin rebounds back in place then your beardie isn't dehydrated. 🙂

Thank you! He’s adorable! So the skin on the sides of his neck would wrinkle? It does tho…like the pictures don’t show as good but I can literally see his collar bone area and wrinkles really bad. I haven’t seen other babies look like this. Just want to make sure I’m on top of things to keep my baby healthy

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
