I'm thinking of buying a wine cooler for storing Reptiworms and wanted to know what type of wine cooler you use. No one in my home drinks wine except for me, and I only drink it occasionally. So, I've been looking for something small and inexpensive. The cheapest I can find is the Visanni 6 Bottle Wine Cooler at Home Depot. It's currently selling for about $50. Do any of you have experience with this particular cooler?
As for storing Reptiworms, what temperature is necessary to store them at? Can you store other worms in a wine cooler to preserve them a little longer?
Lestat is currently eating crickets and I usually give him 1 or 2 small superworms each day. He doesn't seem very interested in crickets and will munch on them throughout the day instead of eating them all in one feeding. Right now he's probably eating about 20 crickets a day which I think isn't enough. He really loves the superworms but I'm not sure that it's a good idea to give superworms as a staple. I also give him a salad each day, but he takes one or two bites of it each day and then he's done.
Reptiworms can keep longer at a temperature of ~65-70°F. I just place mine near a A/C vent currently as it is summer, when winter hits, I may just place them right by a window. Let us know what wine cooler you get and your thoughts on it afterwards.
I'm doing the same thing too. Found one for $50 but it was sold by the time I contacted the person who listed it on Craigslist. The hunt is still on though. Good luck to you as well.
I won one on ebay for $35, while silly people were fighting over one that got up to $75. When searching use "wine cooler" and "wine cellar". found different sets of hits. good luck!
