window ladder

Ladder for my beardie Taco to reach his window seat.
The ladder is secured well (just add this info as it's not really obvious from the photo that it is secured, and this is very important to me because feet, tail... could easily be trapped and badly injured when such a ladder tips over).

The stairs look great! Have Taco tried climbing them yet?

No, he didn't climb it yet as he didn't want to come out yesterday, and today so far also not. Let's say whether he wants to come out today evening, and if, we try :)
He's an avid climber, he'd go up anything, so I'm very sure he will like to climb it. As he hesitates always with new things, I Plan to put him on the first step so he sees he's allowed to climb it.

Hopefully you get a couple good pictures 😉 .... and post them 🙂

He finally climbs it (up and down). I showed it to him multiple times over the past months, also setting him on the ladder which for some time just resulted into him looking at me irritated, despite he normally loves climbing and climbs up all the things he should not :D. Now he climbed it. Btw.: For his first attempt, he'd chosen the more difficult direction - down! That was, however, so fast that I couldn't take a photo. So this photo, just him up there.

Enjoying the view after exerting himself . :) If I could make a suggestion some pillows on the floor all around the edge of the desk. A slip + fall of a heavy bodied lizard on to the hard floor could sprain or break a leg.

That's reasonable, and we had already done this before putting him up there for the first time :)
Taco is quite sturdy, 500 g was the last time I had put him on a scale.
There are cushions used, but I see they are not in the first photo which I had taken just when testing whether the ladder holds securely, with no Taco around.

(In the beginning, I put him up there and didn't have the ladder yet. The cushions are used from the beginning on (one with a bearded dragon pillowcase :D). I then made the ladder. It's also secured very well so it could not tip over or slide towards the side. Same is with the plant pots up there: I made sure he can't e.g. climb on them and tip over. Also the wooden piece can't be thrown down.
That for completeness to consider, if somebody wants to build something similar. Safety is, indeed, super important!)

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
