I got a batch of dubias last week to see if Loki likes them, so I could decide whether to get a colony established. Well, he ate them like a champ the first day, just a few the next day, and now he's either ignoring or just half-heartedly licking them. He ate just salad yesterday, and I offered some butter worms today and he ate them like they were the most delectable things he'd ever seen. Do you think he'll go back to dubias if I keep offering them? I already have a bin set up for my dubias but I can still cancel the roach colony order if I have to.
Well just an update... I am going to see if I can wait him out. I have been checking his weight and it's not going down, and his activity level hasn't changed, even though he's just eating 0-1 roaches a day plus greens. I will keep offering the roaches every day before he gets his greens and keep a close eye on his weight. Maybe this is the adolescent picky stage I've heard about.
Mine goes through cycles... Dubias for a while, then hornworms, etc..... I think he just gets tired of the same thing and wants to switch... On the bright side, his recent "no dubia" spell gave my colony a chance to establish.... It takes about five months to really get going....
