Wild Gecko turned pet?

Hi!
I'm really interested in getting a Bearded Dragon but haven't raised the money for one or gotten my set-up ready yet. On the other hand I could simply open my door for a minute in the evening and have at least 2 new pets. We have soo many wild geckos that it's almost nightly we're catching them and releasing them back outside.

My question is- would it eventually calm down and be a family member or would it be more humane to buy one from a breeder rather than try to tame a wild guy? They mostly seem pretty young but I've caught 3 inchers on occasion. I'm extremely new to lizards of any kind and I'd really love to keep one but I'm worried that I'd accidentally kill it or it would be too skittish to become a pet.

Wellllllll now that is an interesting question. Now I have a few for you ;)
Where do you live by chance ?
Do you know what species are indigenous to your area ?
would you be housing together ?
How do you plan to feed them (him/her) to tame to you ?
Are you prepared to release back into the wild, should things not turn out ?
Janie.

I live in a sub area of Dallas TX. I can't figure out what kind they are, they change color from a tan with dark brown spots to a tan with very light spots and I haven't seen any actual bands (just spots) but they look similar to a Texas banded gecko but with a smooth and skinny tail. It's hard to tell, they are sooo extremely quick and just babies. Non of them have every squeaked though. I was considering keeping just one and seeing how it goes. As for the feeding, I really don't know and I'm completely open to suggestions. I would definitely prefer to release it if things weren't turning out right.

Thanks for your questions Janie and I'm looking forward to your and other's responses. :)

Okay, to see what they eat, take a jelly jar and add some sugar water to it, then using the screw on lid, and some window screening, with a 1/2" hole poked into it, sit that out under your shrubs for a day or so. This will attract the flying insects. Those are the babies to the banded, so yes that is what you would have.
Also you might want to look into the local DNR to see if it is even legal to keep those in captivity ;)
That office can also provide what the main diets would be consisting of, as well as proper housing.
Janie.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
