Why is my baby bearded dragon only eating vegetables.

Hey, I have a baby bearded dragon that’s healthy, not stressed, and in a properly set up enclosure. His basking temps are good, and he’s getting enough calcium. However, I’m a bit concerned about his diet. For the first two days after I got him, he only ate insects, but after that, he switched to only eating veggies. It’s been three weeks now, and he eats all of his salad (romaine lettuce, shredded carrot, mustard greens, and calcium powder), but he completely refuses fruit. He has no parasites, and his health seems fine—I’m just confused about why he won’t eat insects anymore. Is this normal?

Update: have a partial answer he came from asia from a petsmart breeder mass breeding so maybe he got a belly ache from the insects and he doesn't want to try them anymore

For me it is normal, but my dragon is an adult and has always loved salads. It is rare that he decides to eat protein even though bugs are offered weekly.

It is possible you could be dealing with relocation stress still. It would be a good idea to post all the specifics of your husbandry. Lights/temps are the absolute most important thing to a dragon's overall health. So we like to start there when anyone brings up an issue. Once everything is set up correctly, it is much easier to try to help with specific problems.

ok I updated my profile for my tank info
Please get rid of the coil UVB they are a health hazard to dragons- you need to invest in a long tube fixture I can post links for 3 good ones that we recommend on this site -- eventually the dragon will quit eating all together w/ the coil- it will not help him absorb/ synthesize the calcium hes eating

My bearded dragon stays at one end of the tank for about 12 hours and the other side of the tank is more when he sleeps

They are inadequate for uvb - please invest in a long tube as soon as possible - he needs the calcium for his bone development -

I will post 3 of them for you they are for 40 + gallon tanks all 24" fixtures

this one you need the 2ft or 24" fixture w/ the Reptisun 10.0 T 5 bulb posted above

Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
