A week ago we acquired a 15 month old male BD from someone who couldn't give him the time he needs. He came with his tank setup, a 50 gallon terrarium with habitat. The first couple days he ate some greens and a few crickets. He hasn't eaten greens in days (romaine lettuce) and our crickets died, more on the way tomorrow in the mail. I fed him some of my maggots (I raise maggots on clean fish flesh for fish bait) and he ate about 30 two days ago, but I've read that maggots aren't great for them, so I haven't fed him any since. Is he just acclamating, or do you think something is wrong? He pooped last Tuesday and pooped again today, about a tbsp of dark brown with some white in it. Both were identical. We have 10.0 UVB bulb, 150 w. daytime basking, and CHE. He does the temp gradient normal, up and down for basking, other end to cool off. We bathe him at least every other day, I mist him with vitamin spray every morning.
romaine lettuce is no good. it had no nutritional value. try heartier greens like collards.
he might be still getting used to the move. they don't like change very much.
is he used to eating the crickets inside the tank or in a separate container? it could be that he is tired of crickets. you can try superworms or dubai roaches since they might look more appetizing.
silkworms make great staple feeders, but are expensive. hornworms (goliath worms) make great treats since they get huge and are brightly colored.
if you can get to a reptile expo i suggest going. lots of people sell feeders for lizards there and you can pick up small amounts of different kinds to find out what he will and will not eat.
