So i started feeding my boy phoenix worms about a week ago. I noticed when he has his daily stool you can see a lot of worms in it. They look un-ingested. I mean theres a bunch of whole worms/ huge pieces of worms clearly in the stool. Is this normal or should i stop feeding the worms?
What are ur temps? and what are you using to check them with? Are you making sure he gets at least 2 hrs of light after eating/before bed? It kinda sounds like your temps may be off and he cant digest his food properly.
hmm, thats odd. Srry all the advice I had was to make sure ur temps were right. Ive seen similar post b4 where that was the issue. Bumping up so hopefully someone will see this that has a better idea.
Have you noticed any changes with the consistency of his stool? My bearded dragon has been doing the same thing. He typically has two BMs a day and I have noticed the the 1st one in the morning after he eats the Phoenix worms is loose. The second one of the day is usually fine. I am going to get a fecal done to make sure everything is ok. My guy has been Doing this for a few days.
I've read some threads in the past where some beardies will eat the phoenix worms but they still don't digest them when they digest others. That's all I remember so maybe some beardies systems can't digest them while others can.
This typically happens when they eat too many Phoenix worms in a short period of time. They tend not to chew them, so the digestive juices don't "work" on the worms. Before you stop feeding Phoenix worms, try feeding fewer worms at a time, so give him 10-15 and once he's finished those, then add another 10-15. This will make him chew the worms instead of inhaling them. The other solution is to go up a size to larger Phoenix worms which seems to have fixed this problem with our dragon.
