flame has a CHE(ceramic heat emitter) and a basking bulb, the CHE is on the cool side and the basking bulb is on the warm side Right now, in the day, I turn both on. But at night I just leave the CHE on on one side, does the CHE need to be on during the day? And what temp should the basking lamp be? thank you!

a CHE only needs to be used at night if the temps get below around 65°. they like it cool and completely dark at night. i have one but have never used it due to setting my house thermostat to 66°. it is more for a situation where sir henry is ill and needs temps a little higher (which has never happened). the basking lamp temp will depend on your dragon's age.

Flame is 8 months old, so the CHE should not be on at daytime?

it shouldn't be needed, especially if it is on the cool side. at that age the basking spot should be around 105°-110°. not too much longer after that you can drop down to around 95°ish, dragon preference taken into considereation of course. some like hotter, some like cooler. cool side can be closer to 80° during the day. if you're having problems getting the hot side correct, it would be better to adjust the wattage of your basking bulb instead of running a CHE.

I dont even own a CHE and have never used one, but our house temp is warm enough even at night (never below 68F). During the day, I use a 150 watt in a deep dome above the screen to keep my basking temps 98 to 102 degrees in my 4x2x2.
