There are some beardies at the local petshop that are 6 months old and orange phases. Would their current colour hint at their adult colouration or is it to early. When can you tell?
Thanks, I'd really like to know as I am having some difficulty finding other sources of beardies
At 6 month you should have a decent idea of adult coloring but I've seen it take a year or longer for it to show. Color can also be affected by the quality of UVB, better UVB, better color.
If you are looking for a certain color, your best bet is to buy from a reputable breeder. Have you checked out the sale forum?
Thanks heaps for the reply
I've looked at the for sale section, but most of them are in the states and stuff, and I live in Aus. So even if it was possible to order a beardie off continent I wouldn't want to, just because of the risk of travel and stuff.
I'm not so much looking for a colour as so much trying to avoid a certain colour
The beardies look a bit like this http://www.bunarongaquarium.com.au/uploaded_reptiles/red%20bearded.jpg
Apparently they are orange-phase, and I'm fine with that I just don't want to get a full-orange-no-markings-beardie, or one with a very stark orange colour. I know that can be seen as good and stuff, but personally it's not for me.
Can you tell by the colouration of the beardie in the picture if it it's colours will get any sharper?
Thanks again for the help
