My dragon started with a slight cough this am. Im aware this could be the beginning of an upper respiratory infection.
He is a gorgeous citrus translucent dragon so I need to get this remedied asap. Is this a definite need to see a vet type situation?
Is there anything else I can do to treat or help this dragon? He is big vibrant and healthy and just started this am, slight wheezing cough every say 10minutes or so. Not a lot just very slight but it is persistent and has been going on all day.
His temps are awesome and he has proper UVB heat lighting etc etc. I spare no expense on my dragons.
Thanks for any assistance.
Here is a picture of this dragon with the cough:
His colors are much more vibrant then the picture does justice.
If he is wheezing & coughing to that extent, he may need some medication to get it under control.
What you can do now, is make sure the humidity in the tank is below 30%. You can try to keep it a little warmer in the tank overnight, around 78-80 to help him from getting chilled.
What are his basking temperatures at? You can increase them slightly to 108-110 to help boost his immune system & that may be enough to ward off a respiratory infection that is starting.
Great, hopefully you can keep the infection from going full blown. Let me know how things go.
That is great art work!
Yes, he is a beautiful dragon, very proud looking.
Thanks... I have been trying the elevated temps and I have not heard him cough/wheeze but once all day today. Im hoping it doesnt go full blow either, thanks for the wishful thinking.
I have a blanket I wrap around 90% of his enclosure at night and I have provided him with a towel in his box at night too.
