Hi all, I have a approx 8 month old female bearded dragon. She has been a bit ill the past two months but she has still been eating and pooing well. She has been having really smelly poos latley and looking really tired, which i presumed was parasites. Since i cant afford the vets fees I have purchased some toltrazuril 5% suspension antibiotics for her. I gave her the correct dosage as well as some probiotics to replace the good bacteria. It all sounds well but she still seems to be looking fatigued and a bit of yellowish coloration to her urates. I have attached a few links to show you:
Link 1: Shows her poo 1-2 weeks before presceibed medication
So basically, what I have done is I have bleached, soaked, baked and steam cleaned her food bowls etc and then bleached and steam cleaned her tank, while she has been on her antibiotics and probiotics that I purchased from www.beardeddragon.co and kept a close eye on her poo urates, which had impeoved yesterday. All I am asking is does anyone know if she is getting better or what the best course of action to take is?
How long has she been on the Tolturazil for now?
Sometimes when their systems are clearing out, the urates may discolor slightly just simply due to the medications, etc. Are you keeping her well hydrated also while she is on the meds?
The probiotics should be fine, continue with them for at least 2 weeks after the medication rounds are done.
What are the temperatures in her tank & do you use a temp gun or digital probe to check the temperatures?
I would keep her tank around 80 overnight to help boost her immune system right now.
Is she eating very much right now?
It sounds like you have gotten everything cleaned & sanitized properly as well.
It takes time with them as their systems move a little slower than mammals' systems do.
Hi there, she has been on the tolturazil for four days now, the reccomended was 3-4for a animal of her size. She eats fine and i make her drink every day, sometimes squirting water into her mouth, and her temps are 34degrees celcius daily and 29 nightly. Also im going to keep my beardies on probiotics forever as i read they are good for figting against infections and illnesses ets aswell as a whole bunh of benefits.
Is there anything else i should be aware of?
My beardie is STILL showing symptoms of tiredness, yellow urates and smelly poos, any idea what it could be? Because either the toltruzuril isnt working or she doesnt have coccidiosis! :?
Hi there....one thing I would suggest is to get the daytime temp [ the basking area ] up to 40 C. for better digestion. That might make her feel better over all, improve her activity level, etc.
