So I've been struggling with basking bulbs, they all seem to be blowing out within a couple days. I've been buying them from my local pet shop, which I think is why they're not great. So are there any online and what brand or type lasts a while? I'm really tired of buying bulbs once a week and coming home to my poor beardies lights out. I've been getting the 100w repti basking spot lamp two packs from zoomed. Just recently tried a reptihalogen lamp and I came home to both of them out already.
Please help
There are a ton of good options out there. You just need something to produce a nice wide beam, bright white light, and adequate heat. I use the Zoo Med Repti Basking spot bulbs for a while. I found them to work well but they were fragile and burned out relatively quickly. They also made a humming sound when dimmed so I switched to PAR38 halogen flood lights and those also work well. If you are hanging the lights you could go with a BR40 bulb too. They have a bulge reflector so won't sit flush with your fixture if it's sitting on top of a tank.
