I got my roaches a couple of months ago and noticed they were not breeding at all. I figured it was because of the temperatures. I read that they breed best in 90-95 degrees. I am using a seedling heat mat that covers the entire bin for both of my breeder and feeder bins. The temperature used to sit at 70-80 degrees swaying a lot. They are in my garage currently and now the temperatures about 90-97 degrees ( that's the temp for the floor I used a temp gun and a thermometer with a probe and that's what it is.) So here's my question... How hot is too hot for dubia roaches? How hot is too hot to that it will kill them? ANY FEEDBACK IS HELPFUL THANKS!
That shouldn't be too hot as long as they have stacks of cardboard they can climb on to get to cooler areas. They are tropical so think of trying to imitate their native habitats. Mid 80s on average is probably best for them with some humidity (but good ventilation to prevent mold). That said, I've found that they are pretty tough and even do well in my basement in high 60s and low 70s (they prefer being under the heat lamp though (CHE).
