So my beardie is now 18in long, but he has been looking very skinny lately, so i was wondering what are good food options for larger bearded dragons...Are eating supers with the head okay? how many crickets a day--my mom isnt a roach fan, i am making my salad with carrots and romaine hearts(which i know are not the best option, but i know they have .7% calcium...not bad--> also it is more convenient for me to buy, because when i buy collard greens they go bad in a short period of time)---- also what do you feed ur beardie(s)? it might help me get an idea. thanks
Wax worms would be good, just a couple every other day or so. Mine eat maybe 20-30 crix a day. I know you said you dont like roaches but they are great and my dragons LOVE them. I find Greens at stores around here a small bunch for like a dollar. if ya put them in a ziploc with a paper towel they will last longer. They also really like Butternut squash, just slice it really thin
are roaches tough to maintain? i use a 10gallon tank for my crickets, would that be okay to use? is there a good seller to get them from... and a place to get good info?
Once a day: Crickets
Roaches
Mint
Basil
Brocoli (Mint and basil are good for beardies)
Twice or once a week
Carrot (High in vitamin A,so twice a week)
Apricot (he loves apricot juice)
Mealies (The Chitin in them can give impaction to baby beardies)
Ocassionaly
Worms (if i find some in the garden)
Slugs (His treat!!)
Strawberries (And other berries)
Bannana
NEVER
Avacado (Highly poisonous to beardies)
And rhubarb(Also highly poisonous to beardies
Overall advice:Mix it up!!!,Make a list of what your beardie likes and doesn't like
Roaches are VERY easy to keep up. I use a plastic container with screen covering a hole i cut in the lid made the whole thing for $5. I got a non shut off human heating pad from amazon for about 15.00. there is a guy Kyle on this site and I got roaches from him 2 weeks ago and about to order more, h0ndap0w3r http://www.beardeddragon.org/home/beardie/beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=126732 He is a really good guy and the best prices I have found. a 10 gallon would be fine I would cover it with dark paper and make sure you have a good lid, the lil ones can climb up the silicone.
