You can get a smaller hood for the bulb, but the smallest size that the UVB strip fluorescent comes in is 18". Here's a picture of a strip light to show you what beardie parents was talking about:

Yes, you would get the 20" which would be used for a 10 gallon if you're going to order the 18" Repti-Sun. It's fine if you place the hood across the back and if there is a little over hang because the UVB bulbs don't get hot. You don't have to order that exact hood, totally up to you. If you wanted to save money, you could get one at Walmart, Home Depot or Lowe's. I prefer the type that is in the picture though, because it lays nice & flat on the screen top.

That's great, make sure your beardie is 6 to 8" from that bulb. Have you noticed any change in behavior yet?

he is more energetic and hes getting biiger and hid collor is getting brighter

That's great, how far away is he from the new bulb?

about 10 to 11 inches

If you bought the Repi-Sun 10.0 fluorescent (hopefully you did) then he should be 6 to 8 inches from the bulb in order for him to get the full benefit of it. I suggest you raise the basking area a little or lower the bulb. If you raise the basking area, then you'll have to recheck the temps.

Actually, no, it can't penetrate glass at all. Do you have only 1 basking log? If you have 2, you could raise one of them up higher to the UVB.

Can you perhaps put something under the rock cave to raise it higher, like bricks perhaps? You only need about 2 to 3 inches of height.
