So, I'm building a custom hide/basking platform for my tank, what should I use to seal it? What will stand up to the heat and moisture inside the tank? I mostly need a paint that will stand up to the heat. I was thinking something enamel-based, or maybe even water-proof Modge-Podge. Any suggestions from people who have built stuff before?
Well, I already spray painted everything. I think I'm just going to go with Rust-Oleum clear enamel and see how that goes. I mean, it's outdoor-based enamel, it must be able to handle light and heat.
Thanks! I had a friend pick up the spray paint for me, and he grabbed the wrong one, he just grabbed normal acrylic clear coat, would that work too or would it eventually start to break down under the heat and lights?
If you're going with something from Hey hardware store light Lowes true value Home Depot Then I would use Minwax water based polycrylic sealer its water based just make sure it has proper time to cure because it will give off fumes under the heat if you could put it under a heat bulb with it being outside of the enclosure to help it cure it also comes in aerosol form like spray paint or comes in small medium large cans you can use a paintbrush to apply it
