What is normal behavior post-brumation?

Hey guys! Been a bit. Inanna woke up on the 19! She is the cutest pain in my butt though, because I’m still not sure what is and isn’t normal for her yet. She’s woke up, and was pretty active right away, about her normal energy level. She’s been eating, and she drank some water on her own the first day she woke up, and I’ve been trying to keep her hydrated as well. Shes been doing so weird things though since waking, and I just wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiences? She’s been slightly black under her beard, not consistently 24-7, but it comes and goes a few times a day. Not super dark, but definitely something is bothering her. She’s also quite dramatic though so it could just be her having to shed or something small. She’s been breathing slightly heavier than normal, making me think she’s stressed as well. She doesn’t have any other symptoms of a URI so I don’t think it’s that. I think she’s shedding. But, she also hasn’t pooped since waking up? I’m not sure if that’s normal after one week waking up or if I should be trying to get her to go? Or if I should just let her do her thing? The only worry I have is the black beard, and the fact that she hasn’t pooped, just because I think she’s had trouble with that in the past. I think everything else is explainable. Just wondering what y’all think and if that’s normal :)

The black could just be her getting reacclimated after being asleep maybe. As for the poop, it may take her a bit to go. Her systems have been turned nearly completely off during brumation but should start working again pretty quickly.

For my dragon, after his brumation last year (his first), it took about 2 weeks after starting eating until he pooped.

Regarding black beard: I can't say anything about this from my experience, as my dragon (despite male and it's said they are more prone to it) never does a black beard display, the "worst" is a medium grey.
Being pretty active is normal after brumation (was also the case for my dragon), and mating behavior which could include a black beard is more common. My dragon, however, never did any dominance, territorial or mating behavior so far.

Hello,

That can be normal behavior, for them coming out of brumation. I would work on getting her hydrated since she just came out of brumation. If her beard stays black for too long then she may be stressed or not feeling well.
At least she is eating right now, that's a good sign. Is she
basking some also?

That’s what I figured, thank you! Still hasn’t gone, but black beard is gone for the most part, just whenever I come around she gets a little bothered but I think she’s just not wanting me to bother her anymore lol.

thank you- this makes me feel a lot better! Still hasn’t gone to the bathroom- been about a week and a half now. But she has stopped black bearding (and yeah it’s like a dark grey when it’s at the worst) unless I get in her space, so a little territorial it seems but honestly she’s sassy anyways so that’s normal, I’m not even sure if it’s mating behavior or just her being sassy lol. Thanks again for your reply!

Yes! She’s acting perfectly fine otherwise now, it’s just her not going to the bathroom. But yeah super active and alert and basking really well!
