What does everyone use for shelving?

Now, I'm now sure plenty of people have one dragon so an enclosure on a table works well.

I'm curious for what anyone uses for multiple enclosures. DIY shelving? Pre-fab metal shelving?

After looking through YouTube world I was disappointed at the lack of shelving discussions. Watching a 15 min vid just to get to the point where someone says don't use wood because it stains get a metal shelf is not inspired. And no one talks about cable management! Securing cords onto the structure, hiding cords, hanging a surge protector to plug electronics into, etc. Now and then some will say use a wall plug digital or phone connected timer.

I like cord management tubes (wraps/bundlers), wire moulds, Joto cable management (sleeve like), velcro wraps, and cable tracks to name a few. Basically reusable and easy to open management. There are also cable management mesh panels/screen to help obscure cable, it also keep dust off cables directly. Where to place a thermostat control box has always been an issue for me, nothing looks good.

For enclosures I've done standalone enclosures. however, I do have a room to use as a reptile room so it would be nice to have shelving. King of DIY on youtube has an aquarium stand video which would surely work for reptile enclosures, using 2x4s (I think) for the main building material.

And no one discusses what is a good well rounded size to go for. Sure length varies by room but the height should be more uniform? Such as should shelves be close to 26 inches height to match the enclosure (24 inch minimum for beardies) or 30-36 inches to have clearance on top for a heat buffer zone? What do people do? What works? What doesn't? What is a fire hazard to be avoided?! How many beardies with their enclosure can go on a floor before a weight limit is reached?

There is a lot I don't know and searching the internet has not been fruitful. I would love to hear what other people have tried, especially if it didn't work out so I can know what to avoid

I think you named every possible scenario lol. I haven't stacked mine though, but you touched on why. I'm concerned about heat build-up between enclosures. I have 1 on a metal aquarium stand, it looks and works good but cable management is a pita. One is on a slate top coffee table with a rot-iron base it looks and works great, but is a little low to the ground to get him out. The last is on a stand i built out of 2x4's and dressed in barn lumber. I counter sunk the habitat so it can't be pushed off like the metal stand, i also mounted all my electricals underneath to the framing so it's all nice and hid. Space is the only big issue for me. I want my beardies out in the house with us, i feel like once they get used to our routine they are less jumpy and more well rounded than if in a room that don't have a lot of hussle and bussle.

xp29 you're right about the metal stand, where the enclosure could be pushed off! I haven't had to deal with that much (only for a smaller enclosure) but it made the metal stands far less appealing

Cable management is my thing in the house. Even building PCs, I do not use the PC much but I am the cable organizer cutting to length and special shrink wrapping cables together. There is something satisfying to it. Although it tends to take a few different tech pieces to manage cords fully. Command strip cord bundle hangers work well about anywhere for a quick solution

We need a shelving unit for beardies - a solution

I made a double stacked viv. The build is in the DIY section.

Most breeders I know use multiple stack vivs such as this:

The above is an older picture of Dachiu's setup.

You can essentially just continue to stack vivs on eachother if you use a typical DIY build design where lights are mounted inside the enclosure.

Thanks for the pictures @Claudiusx . Mounting lights inside is the way to go for beardies.

Seems like there is not any agreed standard for herp shelf sizes or cabinet builds. Everyone has to be an island and DIY it themselves

The basking side of my tank isn't getting up to the suggested 100degrees. Does that mean I need to get a new basking light?
