In a new beardy? My friend is about to buy one from a local breeder, and well, the breeder probably has 40 of them, besides size, health, alertness, color...what attributes do you look for? Has anyone picked a baby based on a characteristic (friendly or something) and it grew up being totally different?
I picked my beardy solely on health, size, and the coloration at the time. Im pretty content since he is a good eater, and likes being held for the most part (hes about 8 months old) . Just curious what attributes everyone has looked for in their babies, and how they developed as they grew into adults.
Well I first noticed Venus because of her color and size. But when I picked her up she was so friendly and cute there was just a connection made between us. The longer I held her the stronger the connection until I just had to bring her home ! Her personality has developed as she has grown and so has our connection. She is still very friendly and still likes to sleep in my hair like when she was a baby. I think health is the number one reason you should pick a beardie but second you should pick one that you get that instant connection with.
I went in thinking "ok choose a baby that looks alert, has no stressmarks, is eating and is basking."
I came home with an adult beardie with two missing claws.
I saw her and thought that no kids would want to take her home. I was told she was rescued from a tank with multiple other lizards in.
Even when I held her and she tried to bite me I knew she was the one for me.
5 months later, alot of bites, hunger strikes and health scares she is the sweetest most mischievous and affectionate pet Ive ever had.
