I live on the beach and I was wondering what you guys thought about taking Milo to the beach? I'm just figuring some natural uvb and sun could be good for him. Of course I'd have some shade for him so he doesn't get too hot (I live in Florida). Not sure if I'd bring a mesh outdoor cage (which I don't yet have but would be willing to buy) or just hold him. If I held him it's possible that he'd try to run away, but there's not many places for him to go considering he'd be surrounded by sand with nowhere to hide. My beach is not crowded at all- there's usually nobody there except for the weekends. Just thought I'd see what you guys thought about it! I'd probably prefer to have a mesh cage to put him in if I took him (with things to provide shade and water), but I'm not really sure where I could find something like that. I was looking online for a mesh cage a couple months ago but I couldn't find anything.
Zilla makes a mesh cage, but it isn't very large. I've seen some homemade outdoor cages that are put together with wood and mesh and they seem pretty simple so it might be easy to build, but the wood may make it heavy to transport.
Could you try a harness?
My beardie is still small so harnesses are a lot for him so I've been doing this to make sure I have a way of keeping track of him in case he tries to leap or run:
It doesn't bother him at all, he walks around with it on him like that no problem, and because I just slip the shoelace underneath him he doesn't even notice while I'm tying it on. It's tied loose enough that it isn't constricting, but tight enough that he can't slip out. Of course, I'm careful not to yank it, it's really just there in case he tries to bolt, which he hasn't yet. You could do something similar with paracord if your beardie isn't keen on harnesses.
So cute!! I have a harness from my old beardie (rip ) but it's wayyy too big for my lil guy right now. I'd totally be willing to try out the shoelace idea though, thanks! I'll check out the Zilla mesh cage, it doesn't have to be very big.
