I was thinking of buying a steam cleaner, but I read that it takes 10-15 minutes of steaming to actually disinfect, and to do that to a whole tank would take forever. I'm wondering about products like the Zoo Med disinfectant (http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Terrarium-Cleaner-8-75-Ounce/dp/B0010OTI0S). I've also read a couple of posts mentioning one that the name is just letters and numbers and I can't remember what it is and can't find it now.... :?
I think steam just needs 10-15 seconds? Not sure though.
I use (and like) FC10SC which may be what you are thinking about - it's safe, effective and doesn't need rinsed(when used in certain ratio). It can also be used to disinfect fabric/soft items, topically or in a nebulizer for certain conditions. The class it's in (quaternary ammonium products) are one of the few chemicals effective against Coccidia. It can be hard to find but it lasts for ages - the product is diluted into water. I haven't even made a dent in my small bottle.
It looks like the zoomed stuff is in the same class though with some scents and additive, but it should work similarly. I personally don't like buying zoomed products, aside from UVB bulbs.
Thanks for finding that article for me, that's just the ticket! Appreciate the help. My beardie is coming home tomorrow and I'm freaking out a little bit.
