Well it finally happened

I thought Sinatra would be fired down and dull, but his color is staying bright.
How is his color changing when he is hiding for other reasons?
Taco changes to a dull color (any orange gone, color similar to greyish tree bark with a greyish brown that looks like expired chocolate) immediately after going into any kind of hiding spot. Also for sleeping, and for just resting awake for some time during day and coming out an hour or so after.

Maybe you should consider installing a camera while you are not home? As a temporary solution.
You will be able to monitor Ruby while she is home alone.
The camera can be turned on when you leave and turned off when you are home.
That's not a bad idea but Christina will be home this weekend (I think) and she sets less than 3 foot from all three beardies while she works. If Ruby even looks like she's going to move around Christina is there in a flash. (She is terrified Ruby will flip over and get stuck against something)
I might still get the camers though for when we do day trips. I have friends that live close and have a key to my house, so I could call them if I were to far to get back and something happened.

Sinatra never uses a hide at all normally. He prefers to climb and be in the window. When he is being super lazy though his blue panels tend to darken towards black (also when he is cool, or freshly out in the sun).
When he wakes up I'll try to get comparison pictures of him in his habitat vs setting with me. When he is out with me his whole face turns an incredibly bright orange.

Yes, the camera is my peace of mind. When I leave and know that I will return late, I always put the camera opposite the terrarium. It calms me down when I periodically see how Foxy is doing. When I left for 2 days, I put two cameras. One on the side - on the terrarium, and the other slightly higher, so that you can see the place where Foxy goes to the toilet, so that you can call your father-in-law if there is poop there. I could watch Foxy from my phone anywhere where there is Internet on my phone.

I used to use my security cameras but they stressed my beardies so I stopped. The cameras had infrared and I think the beardies could see it. Chomp would actually dig her floors liner up and hide under it if the cameras were on. Zen would try to move around and hide behind the decor. Maybe a camera that doesn't have infrared will be better.

Taco prefers both ;)
So during the day, he's climbing up and sitting in the window. Really for hours up there.
But for resting - he'd never do this other than in a hidden place, squeezed in between something, or one of this caves or the burrow he dug.

My cameras also have infrared illumination, but it only turns on in night shooting mode. This happens when the room gets dark and the light in the terrarium turns off. I know about this and always turn off the camera as soon as the light in the terrarium turns off. I do not use night shooting. I think if the camera worked at night, Foxy would also try to hide from the light that prevents him from sleeping.

By the way, it was easy to notice the infrared illumination. You need to stand in a dark room with a camera opposite a mirror, turn on the night shooting mode and you will immediately see where the light from the camera comes from. When I turn off the light in the terrarium with the camera on, I see the picture on the phone that the camera takes and in the glass of the terrarium I see the reflection of the IR lamp, which shines brightly, but the human eye, of course, does not see this light and the room is also dark.

I canceled my security package with my internet provider when I moved to Washington. I'll probably just buy camers without infrared that are just wifi based and not subscription based.

I also bought a Wi-Fi camera myself, I like not to depend on anyone. My Internet provider calls me periodically and offers to install camera for me.
I ask
- how much does it cost? They answer
- 10$ per month.
I - I have my own camera for which I do not pay anything, tell me why your solution is better?
They end the conversation... :ROFLMAO:

Make sure you have the ability to use your phone to access your camera remotely. Not all cameras have this capability.

Thank you for the heads up. I know next to nothing about them.
