Quick question, Roscoe started sheding today and his whole backside was peeling. I was getting ready to take him out to give him a bath when I saw him tear his sheding skin off with his mouth and gobble it down??? Kinda creepy and worried me. Is this normal? :?:
Yeah. Pretty common. It's not all that unhealthy for them. I don't know if it's been substantiated, but I believe the shed skin even contains calcium and nutrients. heh.
I know alot of lizards eat their shed. My gecko does and I always thought they were supposed to for the nutrients! My beardies must eat at least part of it but not all of it!
thats funny. I actually got worried when mine didnt eat her shed since my leo always eats his. They put all that effort into making it...why not get some return on the investment?
