What foods, usually enjoyed by beardies, will yours not eat?
Wave has eaten basically everything I've offered to her - some things she likes more than others, and I think she'd walk through fire for a nice, juicy dubia. She dutifully eats her reptiworms every morning, dances for micro supers when she gets them, and is a good girl with her greens - she'll eat a few mouthfuls every morning, and hasn't really turned her nose up at anything I've put in there, though some things go over better than others (parsnip is better than pear, apparently).
But she won't eat silkworms.
Glad I only ordered 25 to give them a try-out. She ate them the first night - maybe 15 or so. The next time I tried, she would only eat 4. Tonight, she wouldn't even look at them. Oh, well, they're a pain to keep and get ready for mealtime, so no big loss from my point of view - just not sure what I'm going to do with all that chow!
Anyone else? Weird things that most people's dragons like, that yours can't stand? Just curious!
My lizard ate about every live feeder put in front of him till about two weeks ago when I received an order of hornworms/silkworms. Included in the box was a sample of mealworms. After reading about the rep mealies had, I decided to just feed them to him and never give him anymore again since I didn't know what to do with them. When I first showed it to him, he just clamped his mouth shut and turned his face away. After about one mealie, he walked away uninterested. In a fruitful attempt to get him to eat them the next day, he did the same exact thing.
Weird huh? I heard some people's beardies were addicted to mealies, but mine won't touch them. I guess that's good, considering I'll never feed them to him again.
Dandelions. I fed Dudley one last summer, and when he ate the flower part he freaked out, and stuck out his tongue and shook his head in an attempt to spit it all out. He hates apples and basil too, which Wink used to love. It's funny how they all have such different tastes.
Neither of my dragons will eat roaches. The irony is I used to sell them through a website...
They won't even look at crickets either. They'll eat all kinds of worms though...
My female doesn't like red stuff, but really loves carrot and yellow bell pepper. My male isn't a big veg eater, though will munch on a salad if he's hungry enough. Doesn't appear to have any preference for fruits or veggies...just green stuff.
The roach thing really pissed me off at first. I had started a colony of lobster roaches and dubia thinking my need for feeders would forever be gone. After a few roaches each, my dragons simply refused to eat them again....ever. I ended up with huge colonies, so I started selling them on the web. Made some decent coin, but the "what do you do?" question was a hard one to answer, and it made dating very difficult. Nobody wants to go back to your place when its occupied by 100,000 roaches
Killed all the roaches and never looked back. Dragons still won't touch touch a roach lol.
