Okay, sounds good. Won't try to "force" it then.

Lamp should arrive on Tuesday, so we'll see! I hope that'll make him feel better. Critical Care seems to be a bit hard to get over here, so I'll look into it later, if not I'll just have it shipped from the US I guess. The one for herbivores is readily available locally, but no dice for the other two, I'm assuming because most people own hamsters and stuff like that...

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate it. Now it's just waiting for the lamp to arrive
Feed the herbivore then -- but lets see what the UVB does for him - you should notice a difference right away- what is the weather like over there? If its summer get him outside for good UVB 15 minutes in direct sunlight - sitting on you would be good

Even the herbivore is good, if you can get it I would say use it. The only reason I'd do omnivore faster is it might help get weight on him. The herbivore still is packed with nutrition though so it might be worthwhile 🙂

Hi, some unfortunate update.

It's currently 10pm. Rio threw up (the little amount of greens i attempted to feed him on Saturday + some water) and had intense diarrhea (just urates and water, I think) just about an hour ago. There's no emergency vet services in the area and well... it's late. Took a day off work tomorrow and I'm gonna go to another vet as soon as they open in the morning (which is, unfortunately, around 10 hours from now). Gave my little guy some water (which he gladly accepted) and put him back to the tank for some rest. He's asleep now

Still waiting for the lamp which should be delivered tomorrow. I've ordered the critical care too, that's coming on Wednesday, I think. I was honestly quite panicked. I still am a little. Hoping the other vet is better equiped than the last one and he'll figure out how to help us...

Hello,

Oh I am so sorry he is having so much trouble! I hope he pulls through. Are you going to try & get him
into the vets on Tuesday.
For now, keep him warm overnight, to help boost his immune system right now.
Keep us posted on how he is doing.

Yeah, we went to another vet. Got a lot of info, but mostly - he'll pull thru. He got a jab with vitamins (I believe) and another for inflammation. The other vet said Rio's bloodwork looked "fine", but this one figured it wasn't.

Anyway, the crux of the issue is that he's way too thin. Got a confirmation that the new lamp and critical care (+ bugs) should do the trick. But we're having another more thorough checkup + bloodwork done on Friday. For now the main corncern is getting him to fatten up

But it should be alright. In the end

Once he starts eating he will put weight on again as long as there is no under lying issues --- the UVB should start the appetite - you want to go slow and steady w/ the diet not so fast that would not be good --

Got it in the mail today! Took a bit of set-up, but after consulting the guides here, my setup looks more or less like the one in this article in particular, with the heating lamp on the left side of his tank, then uvb next to it, then there's the cool side. I mounted it inside the tank, fyi, not on top of it. Haven't gotten around to getting a bew thermoter yet, will do as soon as I find the time.

EDIT: sent prematurely, sorry

Either way, he seems happy w it and it does seem like he's livelier now! Seems like he really needed it. We're going to the vet tomorrow again, but it seems like he's doing better! And the poop (vet fed him yesterday) looked good today too

Your screen will determine where it needs to go -- if its a fine mesh like a screen door it needs to go in the tank approx 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor -- wide hole type screen 8-10 inches directly above the basking decor
