Hello,

How is he doing today? Is he still having breathing issues right now or have they subsided now?
This can happen when they have dried shed that clogs up the nostril in that manner. Has anymore
dried stuff come out of his nose again?
If this continues, a vet visit would be a good idea. Keep him a little warmer overnight right now, in
case he may have a little infection starting. It will help boost his immune system. Around 75-80F is
usually good.

I hate to say it. But a trip to the vet might be a good idea 💡
He does have a vet appointment at 3 today. I'm 99.9% sure he only does the struggling to breathe, open his mouth stuff when his nostrils are blocked and eventually it does subside for a bit. I think it starts up when he starts scratching his face and he *aggressively* will rub his face on anything that touches it because its so itchy. I haven't seen anything else come out his nose since that yellow stuff i found yesterday. I feel like his nose would dry and be ready quicker if he'd bask more. Something keeps scaring him, we moved him to the 30g tank we have and it's in the floor on my side of the bed and he can't see the girls unless they're out and at the edge on my side, or he's on the bed and they're out enough to be visible in their tanks. I dont know if its the little hall in our room because that light is off and it leads directly into the hall to the other rooms and it's not dark, but darker, I guess, or if its the faint shadows of the ceiling fan, we have a trayed ceiling so the shadows of the unmoving fan appear longer or it could be the lights from the tv, or even his faint reflection in the back glass of his tank. Chris called me yesterday to say he was sitting on his basking spot, apparently staring at his own reflection and waving.😮‍💨 God, I hope he's okay...

It's pretty common them to wave their reflection. Zsa Zsa still does it and she's a year old.

Hello,

Let us know how the vet visit goes!
Sometimes ceiling fans will scare them, perhaps that is causing some stress.

Okay, so chris took baby Fury to the vet yesterday and she said they aren't real sure if its a uri or his sinuses/shed, but did give an antibiotic and wants us to irrigate and suck out his nose a few times a day. He said they pulled a bunch of stuff and some shed from one side and that it's basically equivalent to a runny nose. She said she just pushed along his nose, like she was pushing it out, but now there is a mark on his face from it, like a bruise. Like, ive noticed, when we give the others oral meds, and were having to wiggle the syringe in from the corners of their mouths, after doing that a few times, the corner of their mouths will become dark for a few minutes, but it goes away. And this spot on his face definitely hurts a bit because I gently pushed on it and he kinda jerked away. It's still a dark brown/black today, but no swelling or anything. I guess she just pushed a little too hard on him. He's still struggling to breathe through his nose, but the shed should be getting close, it's been over a week, I think. I feel so bad because he's just so itchy and is willing to snap his own neck just to be able to dig his face into a hand or finger, it's so cute but so sad
😅 he is definitely struggling though. Between that and him holding food in his throat pouch longer than he should (supposedly is a baby dunner quirk.? That's what the breeder said and she also mentioned he'll grow out of it) and this whole shed thing, he's having a rough start at life. The vet said the only way to know 100% certainly is with a CT scan.? But we don't have him on our insurance yet so we can't take him to UGA, so we're gonna do the antibiotic and just work on keeping his nose clear as best we can and keeping his tank warmer than usual.

I ordered a background for his tank so that other baby lizard that's very obviously in his space can't hurt him anymore so hopefully that will help cut down on stress.

You can see on the side of his face where the dark mark is around his nostril, in the photo, it almost blends in with his markings. The other two are just to show how pretty he is. 🥰🥰

I definitely see the bruise. I'll come punch that vet in the eye and return the favor if you want me to 🤬🤬 (I don't condone violence but I also don't condone hurting a hatchling)
He is an absolute gorgeous Dunner!!!! Very good expression. He will be a stunning breeder if you decide to go that route 🙂

I know she didn't do it with intention, she's usually really good with them, having several reptiles herself, so I guess she was just a little too hard but dammit it made me so mad when I saw it and even more mad when I was scratching his face and he jerked away when I pressed on the spot. 😡😡

He really is, he's so pretty, i cannot wait until he can breed. And he's so sweet, instead of running off to hide, he'll do what he can to get up my chest and hide in my neck and it's just so damn cute. 🥰

Christina's new boy Stumpy and my 1 year old Zsa Zsa both are snugglers. Even Sinatra mostly.
My new girl Lucy (also a Dunner) is a holy terror lol.
We were going to name her Calamity Jane but she was SO calm .... for like a week and a half. Now she is the most spicy dragon I've ever had. (And I love it). But it really is precious when they want to snuggle. I hope you post tons of pictures as Fury grows, he is going to be amazing. (I'm glad you stuck with the name also, I'm still jealous I didn't think of it) 🙄🙂

Looool i wasn't too keen on Fury at first because it's based on Toothless' girlfriend, LightFury, from the movie and ours isn't a girl but despite how calm and sweet he is, it's fitting and I love it. And I definitely am going to be posting a ton of photos of this little guy. He's so damn silly. He's convinced that if he lays flat in any of our hands, he's invisible. 😂😂 and he loves crawling in the folds of my sweater and going sleep.

If that picture doesn't melt your heart, ya obviously don't have one!!!!
Lucy is big enough now to be considered a juvenile. I'm already missing her being a hatchling.
Enjoy every minute you can with him, they grow up way to damn fast!!!

Hello,

Such a sweet picture! They can definitely squeeze themselves into tight spots or flatten themselves
out to fit into small places.
Ok, good that you have ordered a background for his tank. They eventually get used to their reflection
but it takes some time. It sounds like he is doing well!

He had a rough night last night and still this morning.😔 a lot of those air puffs/hiccups before opening his mouth for a second because he's having such a hard time breathing... and it's causing a lot of ptsd, right before we had to let Toothless go, he was doing the same (like in the video of Fury first doing it) because his organs were shutting down and it's really fking stressing me out..

I can't even imagine the stress you must be feeling. I hope the lil guy is ok. Surely is if was something serious the breeder would have picked up on it and not sold him.

She says he wasn't doing this when she shipped him and he didn't start doing this until two days or so after we got him. I'm 99% positive it's the shed, because it's visibly blocking his nose and seems to be bothering him. Hopefully it starts shedding in the next few days and this stops.

Back at the vet to have them do his meds, because I just can't get them and the tech is worried because everytime they've weighed him the last few days, he's lost a gram. He's not eating a whole lot and I'm hoping it's just because he's still too scared and the struggling with his nose. Fuuuuuuck I can't handle another sick lizard, I just can't do it..

If his nose is visibly blocked, that is probably the issue. Zen almost always struggled with his.

It definitely looks visibly blocked, but the vet said when they flushed it, nothing came out and she did say it was a bit swollen at the top. She's a little concerned because he's lost a gram or two in the last few days. She wants his basking spot upped a bit and wants us to make the tank he's in smaller, so he can't run around as much and even on days he's eating well, supplement with critical care.😮‍💨😮‍💨
