The vet told us his shed was blocking his nose, causing the fluid and the occasional open mouth, popping sounds coming from his nose/mouth and wasn't worried. She didn't wanna do an antibiotic because he's so little (more concern with giving the shot because he's so small) but I've notice there's this dried stuff in his nose, best I can describe it as is dried snot.? And it's yellow/golden in color. It's dried almost like crystal, like when sugar gets wet and dries up. I'm 99.9% positive the only time he does the open mouth thing and the popping thing happens is when the shed/inside of his nose sticks out, for lack of a better word, and blocks his nostrils. Does this yellow/golden stuff mean he's sick.?? No other symptoms, just the inside nose sticking out, the fluid/yellow crystal, the popping in his nose or mouth when it happens and he breathes super super hard when it happens. Surely he isn't sick.?? I can't handle it if he is; what do we do.?

I tried to get a clear photo of the yellow stuff, but its literally like hardened, yellow crystals that was in his nose.

Man he is friggen gorgeous 😍 (just had to get that out of the way lol)
Zen always had trouble with nose trumpets. He would huff and snort for days until they came out. Sometimes I could use super small/sharp tweezers to help him but honestly even like that they didn't come out until the were ready. (You have to be really careful trying to remove them, that is a very sensitive area)
Zen never had the crystal stuff that I remember though. I'm not sure what that's all about.

Seeing the yellow stuff, it's a little concerning because with people, that indicates infection, but he doesn't do the open mouth all the time, only when that inside of his nose is sticking out. It definitely stresses us tf out.😮‍💨

Isn't he so pretty.? I'm getting a couple good photos together to make a post because he's so much more vivid in person, it's crazy.

Im wanting to make a "goodbye, hello" post for Toothless amd Fury and wanted to put a link to the album of all the photos I have of him on Google but it's taking forever because, apparently, i have way more than I thought I did. 😂 That and it's been hard to bring myself to do it, I'm still having a hard time getting over it. We got a sympathy card from UGA yesterday and I couldn't stop crying 😮‍💨😮‍💨

It's been a year since I lost Zen, I still have trouble looking at pictures of all the ones I've lost.
Do it in your time, when your ready 🙂

Ugh it's so hard. I've got so many photos of him and can, for the most part, talk about him, but saying his name is almost impossible. We picked up his ashes two weekends ago and I want to get a little shadow box that has a place for a picture, his paw/tail print, his ashes and i wanna put his security harness in it and i have this orange hair tie that I had tossed at him and it landed around his snout and the look he gave me was pure gold.😅😅 "do I look amused, mom.?" 😂

I'm actually choked up a bit looking at it. That is a great picture.
I think the shadow box is a great idea.
We keep Sweet Pea's in a curio with some of our other keepsakes.

Chris just sent me this of Fury and I'm kind of freaking the hell out... surely he isn't sick.. I'm pretty positive he'll only open his mouth when his nostrils are blocked, he's pretty active, despite being pretty scared and same goes for eating, being scared applying to that, too. No other symptoms besides that, the fluid in his nose, (which ypu guys and the vet said was normal) and theat yellowish crystal like stuff i mentioned earlier. His eyes aren't droopy and he doesn't look unwell, i just don't effing understand what the hell is going on with him.. I can't deal with another sick and dying lizard, my mental being can't take it..

That kindda looks more like he is trying to swallow. Are you positive he doesn't have something stuck in the back of his throat?

I haven't tried to actively open his mouth, just because he's so small, but I don't think so. At the same time, when I pet his chin, it does feel not as soft, I guess, as usual.? I guess I should try to check.? As far as I know, he hasn't done that since earlier, but he's still doing the mouth open, puffing thing. We got an appointment tomorrow afternoon, just to be safe.

I tried to look with my flashlight when he'd open his mouth and didn't see anything. He's so little, I can't maneuver his mouth open. I dunno what could be going on, but its stressing me outttttt 😫😫

I hate to say it. But a trip to the vet might be a good idea 💡

Hello,

How is he doing today? Is he still having breathing issues right now or have they subsided now?
This can happen when they have dried shed that clogs up the nostril in that manner. Has anymore
dried stuff come out of his nose again?
If this continues, a vet visit would be a good idea. Keep him a little warmer overnight right now, in
case he may have a little infection starting. It will help boost his immune system. Around 75-80F is
usually good.
