Not too long ago I updated my tank! Added tile, new basking area, etc. With the new basking area, the temp was about 109, he would gap, but not constantly and seemed more active. Since my dragon is a year old i was told he would prefer lower temps, so i switched to a lower bulb and now his basking is at about 97. HOWEVER, when i switched to the lower bulb its as if he is less active, eats less, and wants to sleep a bit earlier.
Should i switch back? Any advice?
I use a temp gun to measure the temperatues, i just don't want to fry the little guy as mine says it can be off by + or - 5 degrees!
Hi Megan....do you mean that the temp. change came with the adjustments to the tank ? If so, it could actually be like a relocation stress since his old familiar tank is now unfamiliar. On the other hand if he was more active + eating better at the higher temp., then that would be the way to go. If he does get too hot, he can always move to a cooler area, but again, it may just be the overall change in his home that is causing a little stress.
