Weak and Thinner after Laying Eggs

Hey everyone!

My bearded dragon who I thought was a girl but the vets were saying she seemed more like a boy…started laying a couple eggs at a time over the past couple of days. She has done this before in years past but not for a while.

She laid probably 5-6 eggs all together. it’s been a few days now.

She seems skinner and weaker. She is still moving about and sassy. She ate a super worm and drank water in her bath. She did poop (TMI it was an orange-yellow blob in the shape of maybe an egg?) I am just wondering if I should make an appointment with the vet!

All comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

Can you post pics of her ? It's good that she ate + drank a bit. Do you have a laybox for her ? If she really seems lethargic and you have an experinced reptile vet you can take her in, it's up to you. Maybe have an xray to see if there are more eggs.

Hello,

Definitely try to get a laybox made up for her as AHBD suggested, if you don't already have one.
If she is a bit weak, try getting some extra fluids & calcium into her. That's good she ate a super worm maybe she will eat some more for you.
Let us know how things are going. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.

Thank you for your reply!

I don’t have a lay box for her! How would I make one? She seems okay, still moving around. I don’t see anything in the shape of an egg in her stomach, but maybe you’re unable to see that.

This pic was taken last night!

Hello,

Oh my, Nova looks really good there, nice & relaxed! Were you able to get a laybox made yet? I hope you got some food into her, too!

Hello,

I'm glad she seems to be doing better! You can get a large tall plastic bin. Most usually get a 8-12 inch tall plastic bin to fill with a dirt & sand mix. They love to dig & burrow to lay their eggs most of the time.
You can make the mix wet enough for her to be able to dig a burrow where it wont cave in on her, but don't make it so wet that there is standing water in the dirt mix.
Let us know how she is doing.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
