My beardie is 6 inches, but all he gets is crickets. So, I was wondering what kinds of treats I could include. So far, I think next time I go to the pet store, I'll get a couple waxworms to keep for treats. Anyone know of any other good treats?
yeah wax worms are ok for a treat...that is my opinion...others have there own, by baby loves them, just dont be to jenerous they are kinda addicting if feed more then a treat, some people give them at one time, i give them at the end of every meal mondays to fridays(just 1 tho)...then butter worms sat and sun, hope this helps.
When I said no waxies, it was because they are the lowest of the worms in nutrition and since you're paying $ for them, might as well have a worm with higher nutrition. Beardies are rather expensive to feed anyway.
Very High: silkworms,phoenix
High: roaches
Moderate: superworms,crickets,hornworms
Low: butterworms,mealworms
Very Low: waxworms
Waxworms are ok as a treat, but I am with neecie on this, if you are giving a treat, a healthy one is better.
duckyLBT's feeding schedule for the treats is great. Just remember they are treats and should be limited. With that being said, they don't have to be the healthiest either, I just think every opportunity to introduce more nutrition is better served than "junk" food. heh
